SENIOR MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT
Sovereign AI is a UK-based AI infrastructure and solutions provider building the next generation of sovereign-grade AI data centres across EMEA. We enable commercial and government customers to deploy advanced AI with confidence in environments where performance, reliability, and compliance are non-negotiable. Focused on regulated and mission-critical sectors — Government, Defence, Healthcare, and Financial Services — we're creating the trusted foundations for AI adoption at scale, pairing robust infrastructure with disciplined governance to support long-term, national-level capability.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
As Senior Management Accountant, you'll be the operational backbone of our multinational finance function, owning a crisp month-end close across multiple global jurisdictions and the integrity of the group's financial data. With day-to-day transactional processing handled by an outsourced provider, this role is about governance, control, and precision — you'll take ownership of complex multi-currency and intercompany accounting, hold our outsourced provider to account, and keep our balance sheet airtight. You'll work closely with the Financial Controller, and you'll also help shape how we use AI and automation to modernise close and consolidation workflows — bringing the same technology-led standards to finance that we bring to the infrastructure we build for government, defence, and critical national markets.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Own the month-end close schedule, coordinating timelines between internal teams and our outsourced finance provider to deliver a swift, accurate group close
Act as the primary point of contact for our finance MSP, reviewing outputs for data integrity, ledger accuracy, and SLA adherence
Identify bottlenecks in outsourced workflows and partner with the Financial Controller to implement automated checks and AI-driven reconciliation tools
Manage complex multi-currency accounting, including FX gains and losses across global entities
Own the intercompany matrix — monthly reconciliations, recharges, and elimination journals for group consolidation
Support alignment of international accounting treatments with IFRS, coordinating with local accountants and tax advisors on statutory filings
Maintain ownership of global balance sheet reconciliations, directly handling complex or high-risk areas such as deferred revenue and capitalised development costs
Act as key point of contact for external auditors, keeping the business continuously audit-ready
Map financial workflows to eliminate manual intervention, and pilot AI tools for anomaly detection and smart reconciliations
